Definitions: Personal Watercraft Overview

HANDLEBARS:
These are the PWC’s steering system. The operator turns the handlebars from left to right to control the direction of the PWC.
THROTTLE:
Located on the right handlebar, this lever is squeezed or released to control the speed of the PWC. You must apply throttle power in order to steer the PWC!
SAFETY LANYARD & ON/OFF SWITCH:
Attached to the on/off switch at one end, and to the operator at the other end. If you fall off the PWC, the lanyard will release and the engine will shut down immediately.
SEAT:
Designed to be straddled by the rider while the PWC is in operation. Some PWC seats will be designed to accommodate multiple passengers (guests).
JET-THRUST NOZZLE:
High-powered water is forced through this piece of equipment to propel the PWC forward. NEVER start the engine or operate the PWC if a passenger (guest) is positioned behind the nozzle.
JET INTAKE:
This piece of equipment sucks water through a grate located at the bottom of the craft. The water is then forced through the PWCs impeller and out through the jet-thrust nozzle.
