Abandoning Ship
If circumstances require that you and your passengers (guests) need to abandon ship, perform the following:
- STEP 1:
- Ensure that you and your passengers (guests) are wearing a lifejacket or PFD
- STEP 2:
- If possible, signal your need for assistance with a recognized distress signal
- STEP 3:
- When abandoning the boat, jump to the windward side of the boat if possible - this way the boat will drift away from you
- STEP 4:
- Swim well clear of the boat
- STEP 5:
- Confirm that all passengers (guests) are present and accounted for
