OTHER WATER ACTIVITIES: DIVING AND SNORKELING
All boaters engaged in diving and snorkelling activities are required to display the following ‘Diver-Down’ flags to indicate to other boaters that divers are below the surface:
Diver's Flag
This is a floating red and white ‘Diving Flag’ that is carried on the top of a white buoy. It marks the diving area. Always avoid these marked areas!
Alpha Flag
This blue and white ‘Alpha Flag’ must be carried by the diving boat. It indicates to others to proceed with caution because a diver is down. This flag does not work as a substitute for the ‘Diving Flag’ and it does not indicate the exact location of the diver.
Divers may wander away from the area marked by their Diving Buoy. There may be currents moving the marker, or they may simply swim out of their marked zone. Always paddle cautiously in marked diving areas!
