THE FIRING CYCLE OF A SEMI-AUTOMATIC ACTION SHOTGUN

  • The ammunition is loaded into the chamber.

  • Once loaded, you only need to pull the trigger to fire the shotgun.

  • When the trigger is pulled, the ammunition in the chamber will fire instantly.

  • The energy from the fired round will kick out the empty shell and subsequently load another shell into the chamber.

Even though semi-autos don’t require manual hand movement to operate the action, firearms of this type are NOT like machine guns—don’t be confused. With a semi-auto, the trigger must be pulled for each shot. A fully automatic firearm will fire repeatedly if the trigger is held down…and is illegal for hunting.
