Module 05 - HANDGUNS 101

CHECK IT YOURSELF: SINGLE ACTION REVOLVER

Follow these steps to properly safety check your single action revolver:

STEP 1: Assume the revolver is loaded

STEP 2: Point the muzzle in a safe direction.

STEP 3: Open the loading gate and check if the cylinder will rotate. If the cylinder will NOT rotate, engage the safety by placing the hammer in half-cock or loading notch position.

STEP 4: Visually check the cylinder through the loading port (as you rotate it) to make sure there are no cartridges or empty casings in any of the chambers.

STEP 5: Keep the action open.
