DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER
When the trigger is pulled on a double action revolver, the cylinder will turn (lining a cartridge up with the barrel) and the hammer will cock and release. The cylinder normally has a release button that when pushed, allows it to swing out from the frame. With this swing-out feature, you can insert or eject multiple cartridges from the cylinder at one time.
