Module 05 - HANDGUNS 101

THE FIRING CYCLE OF A DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER

See how it works:

  • Unlike the single action revolver, double actions don’t necessarily require the shooter to manually operate the hammer.

  • When the trigger is pulled on a double action revolver, the hammer is automatically cocked and the revolver is fired. However for an easier trigger pull, the hammer can be cocked manually, as with single actions.

  • Firing the revolver advances the cylinder to the next round, aligns it with the barrel and locks it in place for the next shot.
