Module 08 - HUNTING PREPARATION

EYE PROTECTION

If you’re spending the day walking through trees, getting a stick in the eye won’t be an unlikely occurrence. You’ll also face eye injury risks when you’re shooting your firearm because of the debris fragments from fired cartridges. To protect your eyes, always wear safety glasses made of impact-resistant glass or polycarbonate plastic with side shields. At the very least, wear polarized sunglasses when you’re walking through the woods. You’ll want them anyways if it’s a blue-bird day.

Just remember, we agree that hunting is a chart topper on the list of important life events, but you may want to keep your eyes and ears for the other important things in your life. So take care of them when you’re hunting. You’ll never regret not losing your hearing and eyesight.

Eyesight Enhancement: Binoculars

You can’t instantly improve your cardio but you can instantly improve your eyesight. Invest in a good pair of binoculars. Good hunters have great binoculars and they aren’t cheap. However, the gadget lovers out there usually upgrade their glass every year so it’s possible to get a deal on a used pair. If you aren’t sure what to get, an 8 x 42 is a good middle-of-the-road choice for hunting.
