Despite what some people believe, hunting actually prevents game animals from going extinct (through wildlife conservation and management) and promotes the healthy renewal of game species and non-game species. However, animals do die—so what are the main causes if hunting isn’t one of them?
The top three threats to wildlife survival in the U.S. are:
- Urbanization (loss of habitat).
- Competition with introduced species.
- Controlled pests.
