Module 11 - IN THE FIELD
HOW TO BRUSH IN YOUR GROUND BLIND
Sitting inside your ground blind will help to disguise YOU, but your ground blind may need a disguise of it’s own to cover up the hard edges and outlines of the frame.
Use the natural vegetation around you to cover your ground blind:
- If you’re in a farmer’s field, lean dead cornstalks on the blind or stack hay bales around your blind to hide it.
- If you’re in the forest, attach branches of nearby trees to the frame using dark-colored electrical ties or string.
- If you’re in a swamp, attach cattails or other swamp vegetation to the frame.
- Remember to keep the branches smaller in size when cutting them so there isn’t too much weight on the blind.
- Once covered, go inside the blind and clip the brush away that’s in front of your shooting window.
Wise Words: Pick Up Sticks
Once you’ve disguised your ground blind, you should tie a piece of blaze orange tape to it in a visible location. This marker will let other hunters in the area know that there’s someone under that pile of sticks.
