TREESTAND LOGISTICS: GETTING YOUR STUFF UP... AND DOWN
Once your stand is set up, you’ll need to get your stuff up there somehow. Like the rest of your gear, you’ll haul your firearm and ammo up to the platform with a rope or hauling line once you’re up. ALWAYS make sure that your firearm is unloaded, pointed in a safe direction and placed in a case before it enters or exits your treestand. Make sure your ammunition is in a separate place from your firearm and that it’s well-secured before you haul it up.
Hauling Lines
Use hauling lines to lift your gear because carrying (or juggling) your cargo while you climb is dangerous… and heavy. You don’t want to slip and fall with a firearm, or with anything else that you’re carrying. When you’re ready to climb down from a stand, slowly lower your equipment on the opposite side of the tree in case you stumble and fall. Landing beside your firearm will only hurt a little less, but at least there’s no chance of accidentally shooting yourself.
