Module 02 - Before Heading Out

PACK YOUR TOOLS

Keep a basic toolkit with you when riding trails. Your machine works hard to haul you around on icy, snow-covered turf. So it makes sense that things will eventually get bumped around and may loosen up or break down over time.

Some machines come with a basic tool kit from the manufacturer. If you’ve got one of those, dig around and get to know it. Make sure you have everything you may need in there.

If you’re putting together a toolkit of your own, you’ll need the following items:

  • Your owner’s manual
  • Spark plugs
  • Extra light bulbs
  • Spare drive belt
  • Spare ski runners and nuts
  • Rags
  • Oil
  • Siphon hose
  • Tape
  • Wire
  • Ropes
  • Mechanical tools:
    • Wrenches
    • Pliers
    • Screw drivers
    • Sockets/ socket wrench
    • Electrical tape
    • Flash light
    • Small pair of vice grips (these could really come in handy!)
