Module 05 - Rider Responsibility
SOUND CONTROL
Do your best to not offend people with the noise your sled is going to make. Avoid riding too close to your neighbours, campgrounds or any residential areas. Be mindful of the time of day too - if it’s early in the morning or late at night, you should park it, as a courtesy to those around you. Here’s a helpful rule of thumb that usually works: If you suspect your engine noise is a nuisance to someone, then it probably is.
Most states have a law for the ‘maximum sound level’ a machine can have. Mufflers that are working properly should meet this requirement without trouble. It’s also illegal to modify your muffler system in a way that will cause it to produce more sound.
